Evora Invests in Training Experience for Petroleum Team Members

(West Des Moines, Iowa) – In a rapidly growing industry, the need to train and maintain highly skilled petroleum technicians and petroleum installers is critical to serving the needs of Midwest fuel marketers.

For many in this field, their experience is gained through years of on-the-job training or an occasional training event held by a manufacturer. To better serve the needs of their customers, Evora Petroleum Solutions sought to find an educational experience for their team that explored the intricacies of fueling components as well as upcoming trends in an environment set apart from their traditional training programs. Source North America Corporation (Source) is a large distributor of fueling equipment for gas stations, convenience stores and petroleum handling facilities. In February 2019, they opened a new training facility in Arlington, Texas that was built with the petroleum technician and construction installer in mind. Their life-size exhibits showcase equipment used to store, dispense and monitor petroleum products; their configurations focus on increasing knowledge to truly understand the equipment that team members work on, keeping safety and compliance in mind.

In early March, Brett Cruse, Evora’s Construction Supervisor, and his team headed to Texas for 3 days of training. With assisted coordination from Source, Evora brought together training representatives from several partners and suppliers.  These product experts lead exclusive team training for Bravo, Wayne, OPW, Franklin Fueling, NOV Pipe – Smith & Ameron, Veeder Root and Source NA – Growing trends, to name a few.

“This training was amazing – it allowed my team to gain a deeper perspective of the parts and components of fueling systems in a controlled environment.”

– Brett Cruse

With many regulatory changes impacting fuel marketers such as EMV compliance and potential bio-fuel mandates in the Midwest, it is critical for technicians and installers to not only understand the intricacies of the dispenser, but also the compatibility of all components downstream. “We are gearing up for a very busy time,” added Cruse. “The training experience at Source gave us the ability to touch and see everything, from the inside out of a full fueling system – this exposure would normally take years of field construction and service to see.”

Evora is discussing plans to make this training event part of its on-boarding and continuing education program for their team. Evora’s Petroleum Sales Representative, Grant Palmer, described the event as a game changer –helping to bridge the gap between green and skilled technicians and installers. “We see a shortage of available skilled tradespeople across the US – there is a high demand for veteran staff across the board – this hands-on learning experience is not something you can duplicate out in the field, and we believe this provides an extreme value to our customers. When you invest in your team, you invest in your business – we are ready to meet the demands of our industry and those of our customers.”
